EODS is one of the oldest Amateur Dramatic societies in the country, with a history dating back to 1881. Our main activities centre around staging two main shows per year - usually in May and November
It's a bit of a Forth Road bridge job, with rehearsals for one show beginning just a couple of weeks after the previous show has been performed - but we have many talented members, and so there is the chance for individuals to have time off!
As well as the performing and directing, many members are involved in all of the other activities that are needed to enable a show to be put on - scenery construction, stage management, publicity, promotion and ticket selling, and all of the 'front of house' activities on the week of the show.
We also have an active social calendar - not least our regular quiz evenings. Why not join us and be part of this vibrant and very friendly group. Just contact Ruth Organ (Membership Secretary) on 07989 763920 or click on the Contact Us icon and send us a message.
A dedicated Committee oversees the running of the society and whilst everyone sees the end results of a show, there's a lot more that has to take place; from the paying the electricity bills to maintaining the rehearsal venue, from deciding on the next show to buying tea & coffee for rehearsals, from keeping running smaller shows to resolving show or rehearsal problems; basically we run it like a small business. We have an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each November where a committee is elected and any other issues discussed. To attend the AGM you must be a member of EODS.
